For your last anon, I have 2 things to say:

1. I think the lack of stress on the early days can be inferred to say something about SQQ, something about how SQQ is doesn’t find these moments as important because he’s planning/worrying/etc over the post-IAC events. Though I see it more as he saw those days as just an everyday thing, doting on LBH. He’s really sweet bc that’s his blorbo!! Ofc being nice to him is so easy even outside of the golden thighs part!! And!!! LBH, an easily impressionable teen is going to care a lot more about this when he’s not used to getting this kind of treatment- not just form SQQ- but from the peak. I mean even with NingNing, she’s seen to make the bullying worse- not on purpose though I still love her <3- so even the “kind” person he knows, kindness backfires.

2. I do think the “first person to show kindness” thing is so not true bc literally the first scene we see with ningning and lbh he’s snarky! And that may be after meeting the qi deviated SQQ but iirc it was immediately after so there’s no real interference. And the rest of the scene played out without SQQ doubting the plot events. Also OG!LBH had a harem of any women just because he wanted to prove himself, it’s a power fantasy not a romance. Imo if it was the “first person to shwo kindness” argument it kinda falls flat since ogLBH didn’t care about his wives the way a loving person would. He literally just married any woman to prove his power lol. (Though some could argue that’s because he reached a point of no return, but this isn’t my post to rant lol)

I believe that og!LBH may at some point thought to himself that he loved them all, but in the way you love shiny stuff that you collect and put on a shelf and sometimes play with? There is indeed power in keeping so many women and taking so many women from their houses, tribes, even husbands or sweethearts. I believe this is not bc LBH forces them to, but we all know that his presence attracts women according to the laws of the universe Airplane created. I believe these power fantasies are sometimes reflections of men that have been taught that having many women surrounding you and wanting you (to be a protector or just for your looks or body or whatever) makes you powerful and superior, this is also reflected on LBH having the heavenly sky pillar like SQQ calls it…bc we have been taught that erm…bigger makes you more proud or stuff like this.

I think I’m deviating to talking about toxic masculinity ksjdkskdjd but anyways! The point in sv is precisely that this absolute character of a man in SQQ’s eyes suddenly (not really suddenly though) turns around and becomes a person with wants and needs and what he wants is actually his old teacher. SQQ does not take this well lmao

But its also true that SQQ treats LBH’s disciple days like a calm period…i mean who wouldn’t! Imagine that you have transmigrated into the character with probably the worst death at the hands of your fav chara…i’d cry XD

I believe that dissociating a bit was normal in this scenario, but SQQ took it to the extreme, he thought that canon was written in stone, without taking into account that his presence and actions could make ripple changes to everyone including the protagonist, he thought his influence extended just to make his death less graphic, and maybe make the protagonist treat people a bit better, in short, he was too humble at first and too oblivious at the end (i mean pre IAC)

He also is trying to play his obsession with a character (first) and with his disciple (later) as something that is completely normal and cool. Cool as a cucumber. Jokes on you SY.

At least we recognize how into a character we are you silly man. Though i also understand him bc LBH post abyss is scary and powerful af even if inside he is still a crybaby wife that pines hard lmao

Brain just conjured the image of LBH meeting SQQ for the first time after the abyss while internally being: I JUST WANT TO MARRY SHIZUN IS THAT SO HARD QAQ

Thanks for tagging me, @eolewyn1010 ! Sorry that it took me that long, had a busy week - anyways, here we go, my ultimate fictional blorbo list:

• Thomas Sharpe // Crimson Peak (he’s my pal. He’s my home-boy, my rotten soldier. He’s my sweet cheese, my good-time boy. It was hard to decide whether he would be on top of the list or Edith, but I decided that he’s more in need of support than her <3)

• Helaena Targaryen // House of the Dragon (I feel like there’s so much more behind her character than we got to see in the first season, and I love the mix of her being generally quiet and her predictions giving so much weight to everything she says. Also I’m grateful that HotD has me falling in love with this whole universe again after the last season of GoT had ruined it for me.)

• Aimé Bonpland // Die Vermessung der Welt (I know that he was technically a real person, but the fictionalised version of him definitely belongs on this list)

• Madeline Usher // The Fall of the House of Usher (my favourite character from my favourite short story. I’ve already written two analyses of her character and role in the story whoops)

• Lionel Verney // The Last Man (because he needs and deserves a hug and a kiss from Adrian)

• Chevalier de Lorraine // Versailles (he’s so stupid, I love him. He is the poorest of all meow-meows.)

• Danny Holt // London Spy (I’ve watched this series an unhealthy amount of times, for a reason I can’t really remember. Maybe just to finally understand everything that was happening. But I still fell in love with this character)

• Charlotte Ritter // Babylon Berlin (I think I don’t have to clarify why she’s on this list. Just. UGH. Her being completely unhinged and reckless <3)

• John Clare aka Frankenstein’s Creation // Penny Dreadful (in my opinion the best representation of Mary Shelley’s original in modern media. He’s such a tragically beautiful and eloquent character, just like in the novel)

• Inspector Guro // Gogol: The Beginning (has cool sunglasses and knows how to make a memorable entrance)

fully intend to open a pandora's box w this but i srsly want to know your thoughts on jack/vlad

They are my Blorbos. They are my Angels. They are my Stars, my Sky and my Moon. They shine a bright light from within my heart and- ALRIGHT that's enough of that. I like them a normal amount.

I don’t think I’ll ever be able to properly formulate my thoughts on them, there is so much going on with these two (or, most likely, I’m just being sick in the head). On one hand, they are peak comedy; the idea of them being a couple in any capacity is absolutely hilarious. They’re both braindead to a terrifying degree in completely opposite directions, they’re a disaster duo through and through, in the event that they’re allowed to be together (both on good terms) for more than five minutes they’ll somehow manage to burn an entire city down, with Jack excitedly suggesting they make s’mores over the roaring fires of a local gas station. Vlad is on a never-ending quest to prove his intelligence and superiority, Jack doesn’t even really care what’s going on he just wants to prove that whatever it is he can do it. None of us would get out alive if this apocalyptic event of a relationship were to happen, not me, not you, not any of the mildly horrified yet incredibly amused bystanders. They’re the funniest ever.

Vlad spends as much time as possible talking about how much he hates Jack and how much he wants to fuck his wife. This man wants to rip Jack’s spine out and steal his wife and kids. Jack’s kids consider Vlad to be the devil himself and his wife is at best indifferent towards him. Yet, forever oblivious, Jack treats Vlad like he put the stars in the night sky one by one. They’re friends to lovers to exes to enemies to friends to lovers (to exes to maybe lovers) again, but they can’t even be that because the enemies thing is entirely one sided. Jack is so blinded by his nostalgic ideal of Vlad as a friend that he remains blissfully ignorant of Vlad’s murderous intentions towards him.

The entire concept of the villain somehow getting together with the hero’s dad, who absolutely refuses to see him for the walking red flag that he is, gives these two the potential to be the funniest cringe fail pairing in existence.

Before I even thought of anything else about these two I was captivated by their comedic potential, so captivated in fact that while I was happily stomping my feet in the shallow puddle of this ship’s depth I didn’t notice I'd tripped and fallen into a lake until I started drowning.

Thinking about them hurts. It’s about the memories. It’s about the love which, despite everything, remains the same. It’s about the familiar comfort that seems so unattainable now, even when it’s within reach. The burning hatred, the unanswered cries for help, the unspoken apologies, the yearning for things to go back to the way they were, the loneliness, the betrayal, the violence… It’s knowing nothing has changed. It’s knowing nothing is the same. It’s about looking at someone you hate more than anyone and only being able to think of the times he’s held you close and made you feel safe in the world. It’s about loving someone and only being able to think of how you were abandoned. It’s about seeing how neither of you has moved on and realizing that you can’t do anything about it, not at this point of your lives. You aren’t friends, you aren’t lovers, you aren’t enemies. No matter what one feels towards the other it can seemingly never be reciprocated in the same way. Love neither wins nor loses. Love remains at a stalemate. It burns the same it has for decades and you watch the flames dance, but neither reaches to warm their hands by the fire. Not anymore. Something about doing so feels wrong. Maybe you just aren’t ready yet. But it’s alright, you’re not worried about it going out anytime soon.

Conclusion: I hate them and I want them to die.

The blood splattered across his pallid skin is somehow not as bone chilling as you suppose he wants it to be. Nor is the flash of razor sharp fangs which peak out from beneath his top lip, his mouth pulled into a wide smile. His boyish visage and wind ruffled hair does little to disguise the lifeless blue eyes he sports, his smile doesn’t quite reach them and that’s what causes a shiver to trickle up your spine as you gaze back at the man.

Neither of you speak, the crisp evening breeze billowing through the thin cotton of your shirt, goosebumps popping along the length of your arms. Guilt bubbles in your stomach for a brief moment and you shake your head, mentally scolding yourself for daring to refer to him as such.

He wasn’t just a man, he was your boyfriend— the person you were supposed to love most in this world.

You can’t tell if love is what you feel for him the longer you stare at him, perched in your windowsill, looking more like a child caught with his hand in the cookie jar rather than a monster. Maybe it was your affections that warped the truth like a funhouse mirror, deluding yourself into thinking you shouldn’t be scared.

“You-“

“I didn’t mean to startle you,” he says, cutting you off and throwing his arms around you, “I thought you’d be asleep by now my love.”

You’re rendered speechless but heavy metallic smell of blood that wafts your nostrils along with the familiar scent of cologne you had bought for him some time ago. The tension in your shoulders melts the longer he holds you in his embrace. His skin is cold, far colder than you remember it ever being and it isn’t just the chill that’s made him frigid.

Ajax says nothing of his disheveled appearance or the fact that the blood which clings to his skin stains you, your skin and sleep shirt, it’s sickeningly hot and your mouth fills with salvia.

But you can’t bring yourself to turn him away.

hey! hello my sister just wondered how Giovanni would have reacted to the existence of Zatara II and thanks to that now I have an existential crisis and we were wondering how you would think his reaction was when he found out about his grandson

a) you know how jealous I am that you and your sister are talking about Zatara II together? You’re literally living a peak existence bc there’s probably 15 ppl on this earth that know he exists, and I’m on a groupchat with half of em. Also, the fact that you messaged ME about my thoughts is insanely flattering I’m glad my borderline questionable obsession with my 90s AU Child of my Fav Couple Blorbo reaches a wider audience 😭😭😭😭

b) so this is an interesting question and I kinda love it! there are more questions about Z2’s life than there are answers at this point. Regarding Giovanni, we can def assume he’s very dead during Kingdom Come. DC hasn’t actually ever resurrected him post-Swamp Thing. One of the few characters to stay dead!

We do also know that Zee can communicate with his ghost, so I think with magical logic he would know about his grandson on the astral plane.

As far as his thoughts and feelings…..look, if any child of an established character is going to cause lots of conflicting, complicated emotions, it’s Zatara II. Giovanni did not like John, and explicitly said so on panel. Also, I think your daughter having a baby with the guy that led you to your death is a bit of a sore spot.

But Giovanni didn’t exactly smother Zee, and never said canonically that he was angry she was with John. Swamp thing alludes to him being uncomfortable at the thought of them sleeping together (the infamous tantric studies reference) but we’ve never seen him go “wow I hate that my daughter is doing this”. So his spirit, or even a hypothetically alive Giovanni if we want to explode that route, would absolutely love his grandson. There’s no question about that.

We can also vaguely assume that Z2 is named after him, which adds a level of sweetness. I’d love to think of Giovanni’s ghost as a guiding spirit to his grandson, bc that’s what he does for Zee.

(Also, the thought of Giovanni traveling to the earthly plane from heaven to beat up Constantine after knocking up his daughter is the funniest thing I could ever think of happening)
